| Question: The Bible mentions that it isn't wise to get drunk. But is it a sin or just advised against? Marijuana/smoking/drugs: not in bible at all? Is it necessarily a sin or just a health hazard? Well, what about getting drunk/drugs? – no Christian is to ever be out of control (either by drugs or alcohol) and the one of the evidences/fruit of the Holy Spirit is self control. Galatians 5:19-24 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice (key word) such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit (evidence of) of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Ephesians 5:17-18 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, (Wasteful expenditure) but be filled with the Spirit, Romans 13:13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. And then, what if it would damage someone else’s opportunity for a relationship with Him:
Romans 14:21
1 Corinthians 8:13 Is it sin or just a health hazard? Well, if approached from even "just from a health hazard" level – a Christian’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and God resides in us. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
